Tecna Next explores eternally fashionable colours and materials in the exhibition Timeless Surfaces

The Tecnargilla community´s social network includes a focus on design with an entire area devoted to a project on enduring trends

19th November 2020. An entire ´floor´ of the Tecna Next platform furnished in the language of design and architecture, Timeless Surfaces is a virtual exhibition curated by the Milan-based practice AzzoliniTinuper exploring surface trends that stand the test of time. At a time when production and research appear to stand still, Tecna Next has decided to turn the spotlight on trends that never go out of fashion, focusing on materials, colours and textures as the key elements that define the style of ceramics. As icons of style, these recurring aesthetics seem to remain perpetually identical to themselves but in reality undergo subtle changes, miniscule movements in unexpected directions.
Architects Paola Azzolini and Paola Tinuper, principals of the eponymous Milan-based practice, introduce a project that accompanies visitors on a timeless journey through the world of colour: four warm tones, transversal colours ideal for the various seasons of living, hues inspired by a natural material that is ageless by definition. The project adopts a precise method of investigating colour trends in different areas of industrial production.
The other large space in the virtual exhibition is devoted to inspirations from architecture with a collection of images taken by photographer Matteo Cirenei. His poetic vision inspires and guides visitors through the surface designs of the four expressive worlds of timeless materials, each combined with a colour.
Ideas and inspirations for reinventing surfaces will also be explored in the Surfaces trends area, a new Tecna Next section which over the next few months will host a series of activities focusing on the two building blocks of Italian surface design excellence: a passion for creativity and constant research into cutting-edge technologies. In this area the design firms affiliated to Acimac (Digital Design, Inkside, Stylgraph, Tecnografica and Tosi Lab) will give global professionals an insight into the innovations, research and creativity behind each project.
Tecna Next is the first digital platform devoted to suppliers of machines, plant, equipment and services for the surfaces industry. It is a sector-specific social network that brings together the entire international community of Tecnargilla, the industry´s leading trade fair to be held from 27 September to 1 October 2021 in the Rimini exhibition centre and organised by the Italian Exhibition Group in collaboration with Acimac. A virtual, dynamic and interactive platform, it will bring together companies, buyers and professionals working in the field of surfaces during the months from now until Tecnargilla 2021. Tecna Next aims to promote awareness of technological excellence and provide exploration and insights into new trends with Timeless Surfaces, a section which is also open to unregistered visitors.
