Edge SDN is a telecommunications network designed specifically to make the Industrial factory network safe according to international standards governing cyber security ISA/IEC 62443 and NIST 800-82. The network (European patent granted) extends the capacity of the Software Defined Network (SDN), adding communication semantics, thereby allowing the industrial assets to communicate with a predefined level of security. All the traffic in the Edge SDN network is segregated and therefore there is no danger of escalation of threats; the threat identification system completes protection, guaranteeing business continuity even in the presence of an issue. The Edge SDN network can also interact with the modern 5G networks, effectively developing an application for mobile networks with factory network security and control functions.
